Kelly Koch was born in Valley City, ND and grew up in Sidney MT. Ten days after graduating high school he left for Marine Corps boot camp. He was a mortarman (0341), and assigned to G co 2/7 in Twentynine Palms, CA for four years. He completed two, six-month rotations to Camp Shwab Okinawa.

In 2005 Kelly re-enlisted, this time as a Combat Medic in the Army from Bozeman Montana. After AIT and Airborne school, Kelly was assigned to B co 27th ENG ABN in FT Bragg, NC. He deployed with B co to OEF 6-7 in Orgun-E Afghanistan. Kelly PCS’d to Joint Base Lewis McChord in the fall of 2007, where he was assigned to HHC 5/20 3/2 SBCT. He deployed to FOB Warhorse for OIF 9-10. In 2010 Kelly returned to FT Bragg, this time with 1-504 PIR 82nd ABN. Kelly deployed in 2012 to FOB Warrior as the Personal Security Detachment medic. Then again in 2014 to Bagram AFB where he served as Med Logistics NCOIC.

Kelly retired in 2021 and returned to Bozeman with his family. The outdoors has always been a source of calmness, rejuvenation, and spiritualty. Kelly and his family love to explore Montana through hunting, fishing, hiking, rafting, and skiing.
